DELAND RADIO CONTROL CLUB, INC.

Through the generosity of the City of DeLand, members of DeLand Radio Control Club, Inc. have enjoyed 16 years of model flying at the DeLand airport.  Our goal is to promote a safe and enjoyable model flying atmosphere. We are fortunate to have access to the north end of runway 18 which is non-operational to full scale aircraft.  The site offers both asphalt and grass north/south runways with a very generous but not unlimited overfly area due to Deland’s very active airport and a 400 foot altitude limitation. Amenities include a large clubhouse with observation tower, safety barriers and permanent pit tables. We are an active club with monthly meetings and a newsletter from September thru May, an annual banquet featuring an R/C merchandise auction, yearly picnic, weekly afternoon cookouts during daylight savings time, an occasional pancake breakfast, and the annual fall Warbirds Fly-in. We are probably best known for our annual Jets over DeLand Fly-in followed by the annual Winter Festival of Giants Fly-In, presented again this year in association with the IMAA. We are celebrating our 14th hosting of these two events!

For the curious; As stated above we have an altitude limit of 400 feet. Our Fly-ins are made possible through waivers granted by the FAA to increase the altitude limit, usually to 1000 feet, only for the days of the events and only between certain hours of the day, usually 9 am to 5 pm!

Our dues structure, which has remained constant for several years, offers choices. It rewards participation in club activities resulting in a reduction of yearly dues to $25.00 which also includes the meal at the annual banquet.

Members not interested in participating in dues reducing activities are required to pay $150.00. Family and student memberships are also offered with $25.00 yearly dues. Only a $50.00 initiation fee is required for all new members.

Friendly flight instruction is offered by several experienced club members to help the beginner from that shaky first flight to solo, or to reacquaint someone returning to modeling after a period of inactivity.

Qualified guests accompanied by a DeLand Club member are welcome to fly on 3 separate occasions before deciding on membership.

Guests who wish to fly are required to present an Academy of Model Aeronautics membership card.

We extend a cordial invitation to all who are interested in a friendly, responsible, safety minded, and well established flying club.
